Sewage pumping stations

Sewage pumping stations

Professional sewage pumping stations for municipal and industrial applications. For housing estates, communities, municipal utilities, water supply and large companies.

PHU DAMBAT sewage pumping stations are fully professional and comprehensively made products intended for pumping large amounts of sewage. Both domestic and economic, residential and industrial origin created in production plants and factories. The design solutions used by PHU DAMBAT are based on many years of experience of our specialists and hundreds of projects that have been completed and implemented by them. Supported additionally by constantly updated knowledge in the field of Wodkan and constant contact with users all over Poland and Europe. Please contact the Pumps and Sewage Pumping Station department.

Depending on the demand, in our sewage pumping stations we use pumps with open impellers of the Vortex type, e.g. DRENO DNADRENO V2DRENO V4DRENO VTH, with open and closed channel impellers DRENO A2, DRENO A4, DRENO A6 or with various types of wastewater grinding systems eg DRENO GRIX, DRENO GX or DRENO G2.

Design and implementation

Each pumping station project is preceded by an analysis of the client’s needs and possibilities. We start the preparation of the offer by talking about the type of sewage and its quantity, the existing or planned infrastructure related to the sewage pumping station and the expectations of the ordering party. We always send diagrams, datasheets and drawings for approval, which allows you to avoid guesswork and misunderstandings at the implementation stage. We perform calculations of hydraulic losses and simulations of the operation of individual models of pumps and hydraulic systems, e.g. single, double and multi-pump for pipelines of various diameters. We treat all orders individually as each pumping station, although it consists of similar components, it is always a bit different. Tank dimensions, types of inflow, heights of components, number and types of pumps, control versions … lots of variables.

Priorities

The most important goal of each of our tasks is to provide the customer with a professional product along with warranty and post-warranty service. We take full responsibility for the offered and delivered products, and in the event of unexpected problems, we look for a solution together and do not leave the customer without support.

Performance characteristics

Sewage pumping stations are the type of the most loaded facilities of this type due to the amount of sewage and its type. Solids, the so-called abnormal waste water contents causing mechanical damage to pumps and infrastructure, which could also reduce or completely block the flow. We often deal with stones, rags, mops, wet handkerchiefs or pieces of wood and plastic. Apart from solids, the chemical composition of the wastewater produces toxic gases and sediments that have a destructive effect on parts of the pumping system. Depending on the number of connected users, the pumping station can switch on from several to several dozen times per hour, and the amount of pumped sewage is counted in thousands of cubic meters per day. All this together means that in the construction of sewage pumping stations, the main emphasis is on reliability and resistance to damage, and only then on economic parameters. It is good practice to increase the flow through the pumps as the amount of sewage pumped increases. While a DN50 pipe is sufficient for a single house, DN65 or DN80 for a housing estate, for a large estate or a town with several hundred people, at least DN80 – DN100. As the size of solids that can pass through the pump increases, the resistance of the pumps to clogging and damage increases. The downside of this solution is the lower efficiency of the hydraulic system and higher energy expenditure for pumping every cubic meter of sewage. Sewage pumping stations are designed in such a way as to empty the tank of sewage as often as possible and not to cause its rotting in the tank. Of course, this has to be based on the pump and control system design capabilities and be compatible with the entire infrastructure.

Pumping theory

In order to ensure the correct flow of sewage through pressure pipelines, the speed should be kept in the range of 0.8-1 m / s. It is the speed of sand and suspended solids that can accumulate in the pipeline, narrowing its cross-section. Exceeding the speed of 2-3 m / s may cause quick wear of pipe fragments, especially on bends and fittings such as gate valves and valves. The replacement of such elements, especially underground installations, is often associated with high costs and difficulties for the local community. The selection of appropriate pumps must always be correlated with the parameters of the pipeline and the amount of incoming sewage. A discharge pipeline that is too small will generate pressure losses at a high flow velocity, and a discharge pipeline that is too large will result in a lack of lifting velocity, overgrowth of the pipeline and too long transport time to the treatment plant.

Types of pumps

In the sewage pumping stations manufactured by PHU DAMBAT, we always select the appropriate pumps for the type and intensity of sewage. The most popular types of pumps used by us are pumps with Vortex impellers with the so-called free passage under the impeller and pumps with single-channel impellers (open or closed).

Free passage pumps:

DRENO DNA – flights from 45 to 75mm, DRENO V2 – flights from 50 to 70mm, DRENO V4 – flights from 65 to 130mm, DRENO VTH – flights from 70 to 100mm.

Pumps with a single-channel impeller:

  • DRENO A2 – flights from 40 to 65mm,
  • DRENO A4 – flights from 75 to 140mm,
  • DRENO A6 – passage 110mm.

In exceptional situations, with low inflows and diameters of the pipeline cross-sections, we use the DRENO G2 grinding pumps.

Types of control box

The control of the sewage pumping station is usually carried out in an automatic cycle on the basis of signals coming to the control system from float level switches, commonly known as floats or a hydrostatic probe (the most resistant to clogging by sewage). For a typical two-pump system, there are four operating levels:

Dry running – the lowest level protecting the pump against dry running (overheating) and air pockets, the level achieved only in the manual control mode,
Minimum (STOP) – the level of safe shutdown of pumps in automatic mode,
Maximum (START) – activation level of the first pump,
Alarm – the level of activating the second pump and notifying the service personnel about exceeding the safe level of sewage in the tank.

The standard control system of the sewage pumping station offered by our company has the function of alternating pump operation, so that no pump is left in the tank. Thanks to this solution, the pumps are in constant readiness for operation and their wear occurs evenly. In the event of failure of one of the pumps, the other automatically takes over, a similar situation also occurs in the case of continuous operation of one of the pumps for more than 20 minutes. Our switchgears are equipped with pumps operating time counters and counters for the number of starts, which allow for the ongoing monitoring of the wear status of the pumps. Depending on the pump model, in control cabinets, in addition to the typical temperature and humidity 1-2 protection, we also use controllers for moisture probes installed in the pump’s oil chamber.
